The Clean Energy Skills National Centre of Excellence (CESNCE) has welcomed the announcement of a new $32 million Clean Energy Skills Hub to be established at North Metropolitan TAFE’s Midland campus.
The state-of-the-art Hub will serve as a central training facility connected to up to four specialist regional 'spokes' across WA, creating a network that supports the delivery of clean energy skills training throughout the State.
Developed as an initiative of the CESNCE, the Hub will support training in key clean energy sectors, including solar and wind energy, battery energy storage systems and related technologies. Using digitally integrated technologies, the Midland campus will connect with regional locations to expand access to practical, industry-relevant training.
The Hub aims to strengthen WA's clean energy workforce while supporting regional communities to build local capability and access training opportunities closer to home.
The Hub will also help regional TAFE colleges deliver training aligned to local industry demand and improve access for Aboriginal people seeking skills and career pathways in emerging clean energy industries.
CESNCE General Manager, Ty Theodore, said the investment would have a lasting impact on communities across the State:
“By increasing our digital capability we are bringing training closer to home, we're creating pathways into clean energy careers, helping regional communities build local workforces and share in the opportunities of the State of Energy.”
Refurbishment works at the Midland campus are expected to begin in late 2026, with increased delivery of electrical and instrumentation training from 2027.
